Good Morning!
I share my birthday with one of the most iconic heroines created for the tiny page and big screen: Usagi Tsukino aka Sailor Moon.
A quick self care update: For the fist time in over a decade I called out sick. I just had to.
Do I feel guilty? Yes. Do I know that's a symptom of suffering from the common condition called Capitalism? Also yes but here we are.
I did get my second Covid shot last Friday and felt fine, but returning to work on Tuesday six people called out sick so I ended up being there from 7am to 5:30pm and combined with the heat my body made a cocktail called "NOPE".
I went to the doctor's office and spent my birthday and the last few days relaxing at home and even now it hurts to go downstairs to get the mail.
Take that time for yourself. We're all edging on burnout one way or another.
Quoting my girlfriend: The company doesn’t care about you as much as you do about it.
A few days off are better than a race to the ER.
Especially in times like this it’s nice to know there are people that support my endeavors to create this and other projects that get my head out of the stress of my day job and hopefully yours as well.
Movies that SLAP
My childhood might have only had five channels on TV and two of those were run by the government but there was no shortage of a specific genre: Violent movies and shows in which the heroes where SO good at being a good guy they didn’t kill anyone.
The A-Team, Knight Rider, Thunder in Paradise … you know the drill.
But it was also full of movies with an Italian pair of actors that individually gave us (almost) Popeye and an iconic Lucky Luke but together *sighs whistfully* TOGETHER they did all this:
Celebrating in the streets, disaster in the sheets
Covid vaccinations are expediting more and more processes that should be in effect for so long now. For instance, after getting my second shot I got QR codes connected to my ID to register for the EU Vaccination Passport which I now have on my phone, at no extra cost, as well as printed out for my wallet.
But what if I tell you that below the amazing things that happen there’s an ugly underbelly of basic accounting gone wrong?
Like Excel running out of numbers? And what that means for how we see the world right now?
Venus de Mil-oh?
You know my obsession with Michelangelo’s David so I am HERE for more (not so) classical art mysteries.
Brew’s Tunes
For a while I consider myself a highly ambitious listener of 80’s Japanese City Pop. Discovering this genre 40 years later baffles me especially being a huge anime fan. But life is nothing if not opportunities to realize that you never done learning.
Below you find a less pop and more chill album you can sip a Ramune to.
Brew’s Clues!
… is on break this week because I just didn’t have it in me BUT LOOK I GOT FANART!
Have a fantastic week, everyone!
And if you enjoy this, please share the joy with others!
